CSIR NET Chemical Science Syllabus Part A

1. CSIR NET Chemical Science 2023

The CSIR UGC NET exams will happen jointly for the December 2022 and June 2023 sessions in the first week of June. This exam is constituted to select suitable candidates for Research & Development organizations as well as candidates with a passion for teaching in departments of Higher Education nationwide. The minimum eligibility to write the exam is to have an M.Sc. or equivalent degree or Integrated BS-MS or BS-4 (years) or B. Tech or B. Pharma or MBBS with at least 55% (for the general category) and 50% (for other reserved categories).

2. CSIR NET Chemical Science Syllabus: Importance of Understanding

A thorough understanding of the syllabus is the prime focus while kick-starting any preparation. Here, in the case of Chemical Sciences, the syllabus is divided into Inorganic Chemistry, Physical Chemistry, Organic Chemistry, and Interdisciplinary topics. After analysing the syllabus, the aspirants should skim through the previous year’s question papers to get an idea about the exam. The exam will be conducted for 200 marks with a total duration of 3 hours.

3. CSIR NET Chemical Science Syllabus Part A: Topics

The exam paper is segregated into three main sections part A, part B, and part C. Part A is a General paper that includes General Science, Quantitative Reasoning & Analysis, and Research Aptitude. This part consists of 20 questions out of which only 15 questions are required to be answered.

4. CSIR NET Chemical Science Syllabus Part A: marking scheme

The total mark allocated for part A is 30 marks out of the total 200. All the questions will be of Multiple-Choice Type. The General paper is just qualifying in nature and involves basic Aptitude questions.

This part consists of 40 questions (MCQ) that will be covered from the main syllabus topics detailed below. The candidates are required to answer only 35 questions out of the total 40 questions. The total mark allocated to this section is 70 out of 200 marks.

CSIR NET Chemical Science Syllabus Part C

The C part of the exam consists of 60 questions that are designed to check the problem-solving ability and analytical skills of the candidate in their core subject. Out of the total number of questions, the candidates are expected to answer only 25 questions. And each question will be allocated 4 marks and the total marks attainable is 100. There will be a negative marking of 0.25 for each question irrespective of the different sections in the exam.
