KTET Eligibility Criteria 2025
The KTET eligibility criteria 2025 are different for all four KTET categories based on their academic qualifications to teach in LP, UP, High Schools and special subjects. Since KTET became mandatory for everyone, including in-service teachers, as per the latest KTET Rules and Regulations by Supreme Court, it is advised that everyone qualify for KTET along with this KTET eligibility criteria to ensure your teaching career.

KTET Eligibility Criteria for Category 1
KTET Eligibility Criteria for Category 1 includes
- Higher Secondary certificate with at least 45% marks or its equivalent plus
- Pass in Trained Teachers Certificate (TTC) / Diploma in Education (D.Ed.) Course / 2 Year Diploma in Elementary Education (D.El.Ed.) as per the 2002 NCTE rules / 4 Year Bachelor of Elementary Education (B.El.Ed) / 2 Year Diploma in Education (Special Education).
KTET Eligibility Criteria for Category 2
KTET Eligibility Criteria for Category 2 includes
- Any degree eligible for B.Ed. course plus
- Certificate in 2 year Diploma/TTC/D.Ed/D.El.Ed in Elementary Education or Certificate in Bachelor in Education (B.Ed/D.El.Ed) as per the updated NCTE rules or
- Higher Secondary certificate with at least 50% marks plus Pass in 4 Year Bachelor of Elementary Education (B.El.Ed) / Pass in 4 Year BSc/BA in Education (BSc.Ed/BA.Ed) or
- BBA/BCA/B.Tech Degree from any recognised universities plus educational training qualifications as per KER Chapter XXXI Rule 3.
Furthermore, students in their last year of D.Ed., D.El.Ed., or B.Ed can apply for the KTET category 2. However, these students have to submit a letter from the head of their college confirming that they are in their last year of studies along with their application.
KTET Eligibility Criteria for Category 3
KTET Eligibility Criteria for Category 3 includes
- B.Sc./B.A./B.Com. Degree under any recognised universities with at least 45% marks and B.Ed. in the same subject or
- Degree in Mathematics / Physical Science / Chemistry / Botany / Zoology with at least 50% marks with MSc.Ed. qualification in the same subjects
KTET Eligibility Criteria for Category 4
The KTET Category 4 Eligibility Criteria covers candidates who are qualified in subjects such as Arabic, Hindi, Sanskrit, and Urdu, as well as teachers in the specialist category and Physical Education, and who meet the eligibility requirements of the Kerala Educational Act and Rules, Chapter XXXI are eligible to apply for the KTET Category 4.
