Overview

Central Teachers’ Eligibility Test is a crucial qualification exam conducted by Central Board of Secondary Education. The exam aims to certify the winners in recognition of their knowledge in teaching up to standard 8. The certificate has lifetime validity and can be used anywhere in India to join as teacher in concerned subject. CTET has two categories, category one is the certification for teachers in the classes I – V. Category 2 certifies teachers for classes VI – VIII.

CTET Paper 2 Social Science / Social Studies Exam

CTET is a crucial exam for the teachers eligible to teach up to the class of VIII, all over India. The certificate, relevant subject, is acceptable in schools and State Public Service Exam Boards. Kerala PSC accepts CTET as a qualifying certificate, equivalent to the KTET 1 and 2. Although the CTET certifies candidates up to VIII standards Kerala PSC require KTET 3 certification to consider the candidates for the PSC HSA examinations

Second edition of CTET Paper 2 Social Science Exam has been rescheduled to 14 December, 2024. Candidates are advised to go through the important dates and instructions before attending the examination. There are no negative marks in this 150-question test. Eligibility Criteria

  1. B.A/B.Sc. and 2- year Diploma in Elementary Education (by whatever name known)

Or

B.A /B.Sc. with least 50% marks and 1-year Bachelor in Education (B.Ed.)

Or

B.A./B.Sc. with a least 45% marks and 1-year Bachelor in Education (B. Ed), in accordance with the NCTE (Recognition Norms and Procedure) issued from time to time in this regard

Or

Senior Secondary (or its equivalent) with at least 50% marks and 4-year Bachelor in Elementary Education (B. El. Ed)

Or

Senior Secondary (or its equivalent) with at least 50% marks and 4-year BA/B.SC. Ed. or B.A. Ed./BSc. Ed.

Or

BA. /B.Sc. with at least 50% marks and 1-year B.Ed. (Special Education)

Exam Pattern

The CTET paper II Social Studies/Social Science exam is conducted as single exam. The question booklet will consist questions in both English and Hindi medium. Also, the questions of Mathematics and Science will be included in the question booklet. The questions from the core subject will be from the question number 31 – 90. And the question numbers will repeat in part III. The candidates of Social Studies / Social Science should skip part II and answer for the question number 31 – 90 from part III. The candidates who chose English as Language I should attempt the first set of questions from 91-120 and those chose Hindi should attempt the second set of questions from 91-120. Similar is the case of Language II questions from 121 – 150.
